The Mythical serpent Kayak Celebration is one of the four most significant celebrations celebrated by the Miao ethnic minority who live on the banks of the Qingshui Waterway, in southwest China’s Guizhou Territory.
The other three significant celebrations celebrated by the Miao public are the Miao New Year, the Lusheng Celebration and the Sister’s Dinner Celebration. The Miao apparently praise an unending number of celebrations over the span of a year.
Festival Activities
The day preceding the Mythical serpent Kayak Celebration the winged serpent head will be collected, then conveyed down to the stream with grandeur and function in a parade that is driven by the town’s most old and regarded part. The mythical serpent head is perfectly cut and designed with red stripes and has two long horns, one at one or the other side. The winged serpent’s head will then, at that point, be fixed to a kayak body.
Dragon Boat Race Clothes
Upon the arrival of the celebration, the locals generally spruce up in their vacation best and collect on the banks of the Qingshui Stream. The group of each race group wears purple coats, blue pants, and brilliant bamboo caps, with silver belts around their midriffs.
The Race
The kayak race is normally the peak of the occasion and is a display to see. The rhythmical oar strokes of each group strike the surface as one, sending sprinkles of sparkling water right after the oars. The going with sound of thumping drums and gongs, with empowering cheers from spectators, prod on the kayak teams, whose increased endeavors, thusly, spread energy in the hearts of spectators.
Post-Race Events
After the end of the kayak race, the mythical serpent head is gotten back to its place of love in the home of the town senior, where it will be painstakingly dismantled. The winged serpent head is viewed as a consecrated item and is subsequently regarded by the Miao public.
After the winged serpent head has been securely gotten back to its place of worship, a firecrackers scene praises the end of the kayak race, after which the Miao locals collect to commend the effective consummation of one more Mythical beast Kayak Celebration, by partaking in a town feast.
